About Oral Cancer

The purpose for this event is to raise awareness of oral cancer and the importance of its early detection and prevention.

66% of the people are diagnosed with oral cancer in stage III or IV, and 43% of the victims die within 5 years
Maricopa County has over 50% of Arizona's oral cancer cases
Early detection is the key! If oral cancer is detected early (in stages 1 or 2) the survival rate is 80-90% since it has the best response to treatment.
Approx. 100 new individuals are diagnosed with oral cancer in the US every day of the year
Tobacco use in any form and even more so in combo with heavy alcohol consumption remains the primary risk factor for oral cancer.
